Forgetful

You have to know Fionn for quite some time before you can fully understand that he's not selfish or insensitive, that really he is just honestly, incurably distractible. It's the scientist -- sorry, alchemist -- in him that does it, really. He gets so caught up in what he's doing, and time just stops for him.

Literally, once, but that was an accident.

Getting used to the accidents is even harder than getting used to that abstracted, endlessly curious attitude of his. The things I've found running around the house... I don't even want to talk about it!

So why does anyone put up with him? Well, most do because he's a Prince, you know. Second in line to take the throne and, to put it bluntly, because he's one of the most powerful mages in the realm. Second only to his parents. I've never seen him get angry, but I can understand why most people wouldn't want to push their luck.

Why do I put up with him. Well, because he's brilliant, creative, beautiful, and when reminded of times and dates and reality, he's remarkably sweet and giving, in his own odd way. Plus, it feels nice to have someone to take care of. I like the befuddled look on his face and the streaks of powder and lye all over his skin and hair when I bring him lunch, remind him to eat, to sleep now and then. I like the way he looks when he is asleep. I like his hobby of creating strange fashions in clothing and hair, each wilder than the next. I like his smile.

Really, to be honest, I love all those things, and I love him, too. All it took was a little time and patience, to see him for the gem he really is.
